Alexey Kim is a New York City–based independent queer artist, writer, journalist, and photographer. He is the founder of and main contributor to the LGBTQ+ vertical sidewalkkilla.com. Alexey was born in Kazakhstan, formerly part of the USSR, eventually moving to the US in his teens.
Alexey started his career as a photo contributor to Gayletter magazine in June 2018, covering events, parties, and fashion shows, and photographing still life and editorial shoots for the magazine’s blog as well as print issues of the magazine.
Alexey’s work has also been published in New York magazine, V magazine, Paper, WWD, Gayletter, them., OUT Magazine, The Cut, People, WestView News, Buro247, Siegessäule, Página12, Autostraddle, The WoW Report, Bedford + Bowery, Extra TV, Orange Juice and Biscuits, Too Fab, Hola, Boy Culture, Designerz Central.
In June 2019 Alexey decided to start his own venture and founded an LGBTQ+ news editorial vertical called Sidewalkkilla.com, concentrating on nightlife, events, and personal stories from the LGBTQ+ community.
Alexey has extensive experience in social media management, still, product, portrait, fashion, event, and nightlife photography. His past and present clients include Indochine NYC, Sotheby’s, Douglas Elliman, Geena Rocero, Major Food Group, Gayletter, The Beau Next Door, Flowerling, EdoEyen, Revery clothing, and Octomobility.
